Aston Villa v Arsenal
Barclays Premier League
Kick off: January 13, 2014 8.00 PM BST
Arsenal returned to the top of the table thanks to two quick fire goals, one scored and one assisted by Jack Wilshere who rightfully picked up the MotM accolade.
The Gunners were made to work for it though, especially in the final 20 minutes with Aston Villa pulling a goal back through Christian Benteke after Cazorla’s soft giveaway, applying plenty of pressure on Arsene Wenger’s side toward the end.
However Arsenal weathered the storm with a solid defensive display but lost both Nacho Monreal and Tomas Rosicky to injury, hopefully the duo will have suffered no broken bones (metatarsal and nose respectively).
Overall a relatively professional performance from the Gunners, who enjoyed 64% of the possession and really took the game to Villa early on.

Also, in breaking news:
Wilshere is set to face a 5 match ban for his obscene ‘A’ gesture after scoring, with the FA considering suspending him from the international stage.
The Englishman has been a bad, bad boy recently, sticking up the middle finger to the Manchester City fans. While the trend Arsenal team mates playing up also extends from Theo Walcott’s disrespectful gesture to Spurs fans by reminding them of the score. Horrific stuff. Arsene Wenger is reported to have given the out-of-line duo a good spanking.
After netting Arsenal’s opener, Wilshere pulled an ‘A’ sign with his fingers, signaling his frustration with society and world politics, and not at all the fact that he plays for Arsenal or his kid’s name is Archie. He is set to face the FA disciplinary committee on Thursday.
Wouldn’t be surprised if this was even true hah.
