Cesar Bottega, agent of young star Douglas Costa, has reported interest from Arsene Wenger in the left-footed attacking midfielder of Shaktar Donetsk. Being heavily linked with his compatriot Willian recently it comes as a surprise that a bid for Costa has been confirmed, which included money plus out-of-favour Denilson who wants to leave the club. – daily mail
Costa, a member of the U20 Brazilian squad, has enjoyed recent success with Shakhtar, making scoring appearances off the bench and gaining a more prominent role in the team. Known for his explosive pace and typical Brazilian flare and skill, he would add more competition in an Arsenal team that is rumoured to be losing a number of fringe players in the near future.
Although Arsenal were hoping to both sell Denilson and buy a more than capable replacement, Costa, in one swoop, Shakhtar have little interest in our own Brazilian midfielder with Costa’s agent, Bottega, stating: “The Gunners have offered the club Denilson in exchange for Douglas but Shakhtar said no. They are not interested in Denilson and would want only money.”
With Shakhtar only interested in hard cash do you think Arsene will continue to pursue the young star? Perhaps selling our want-away players for good value will be a lot harder than first thought…
