Özil has been a fan favourite at Arsenal ever since his arrival, but hasn’t always gotten the recognition he deserved. It may have taken him a while to settle in at the club, but he’s unquestionably playing some of the best football of his career this season. He’s rightfully being praised for his contributions, and Arsenal fans jumped at the chance to question him.
The 27-year-old currently has 16 assists in the Premier League, double that of his nearest competition – Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez each on eight. His form is a massive part of the reason we find ourselves top of the table heading into the second half of the campaign, and will be a key factor in whether we stay there until the end of the season.
Whether he’ll be playing against Sunderland this weekend is unclear, as Arsene Wenger may be looking to give him a rest. We can’t really afford to be without our key creative genius for too many games, so we need to ensure he doesn’t get burnt out.

We should have enough about us to get the win against the Black Cats with or without Özil, but he will no doubt want to be involved as we look to defend our FA Cup title and keep it at the Emirates for a third consecutive year.
