Jack Wilshere is likely to play no part in our UEFA Champions League clash with AS Monaco this Wednesday, with the midfielder absent from training today according to the Express.
The England international has only just returned from injury, and it was feared that his absence from training meant he had suffered a set back. The Express state that this is not the case however, with their sources claiming Wilshere is simply undergoing a separate training regime tailored to his long-term recovery.
Despite being on the bench against Crystal Palace during our 2-1 win this past weekend, the 23-year-old played no part in the game and now seems likely to miss out against Monaco.
Arsene Wenger seems keen to avoid any unnecessary risks with Wilshere, and is likely to rest him at least until next weekend’s Premier League match against Everton.

With Aaron Ramsey currently out injured, we could use Wilshere available. It’s far better to ensure a full recovery for the young Englishman however, as squad depth may prove vital as we head into the tail end of the season.
