Former Arsenal academy star Jack Wilshire, now a free agent, has been predicting his Premier League top six ahead of the start of the new season – while not being entirely favourable to the Gunners.
“Manchester City will win it. I would prefer Man United to win it but I think they come second. Chelsea third, Liverpool fourth, Arsenal fifth and Leicester sixth,” Wilshire was quoted as saying via talkSPORT.
A fifth place-finish for Arsenal would represent an improvement under Mikel Arteta, but hardly the kind of finish fans would be hoping to aspire to, considering the outlay on players such as Ben White this summer.
Wilshire piled on his admiration for Manchester City, who he has tipped to retain their crown, as well as naming Tottenham’s Harry Kane as the key to guaranteed success;
“I played against Man City so many times and it’s awful, it’s horrible. You can’t get the ball off them. Pep just gets them playing these little passes. If they get Harry Kane as well it’s over before we even start.”
