Barcelona Legend Johan Cruyff has blasted his former club for dragging their heels over signing Cesc Fabregas.
The Dutch legend told his old club: If you really want him, pay the asking price. La Liga and Champions League winners Barca have had bids of up to £35m firmly rejected by Arsenal, who understandably want £40m for their 24-year-old skipper.
And Cruyff, a player and manager at the Nou Camp, insists the Gunners are right to stick to their demands. Cruyff, 64, snapped: “Arsene Wenger looks after their interests and it is Arsenal who control the situation.
“Cesc signed for many years and now he has to play for them. If Barcelona want him, they have to pay for him.
“When you sign for a club, you are bound to it. It is logical to want Cesc but he is under contract to another club.”
Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola knows he will have to blow the bulk of his transfer budget to capture Fabregas. But he also wants to buy Chile winger Alexis Sanchez.

Cruyff admitted: “I have no idea whether Cesc will come here.
“Arsenal are asking for a lot of money. We must use our heads.”
It’s satisfying to see someone Barcelona-related sticking up for Arsenal during the constant bombardment of claims and disrespectful comments coming from the Nou Camp. It was Cesc’s fault for signing a new long term contract, he knows this and he will eventually return to the Nou Camp WHEN Barcelona fork out the appropriate amount for him.
