According to Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have decided to pull out of the race for Gonzalo Higuain, choosing to pursue his compatriot Carlos Tevez instead.
The Manchester City forward is pasted all over the front page of the Monday edition, and according to Gazzetta the Italian giants lead the race to sign Tevez despite interest from AC Milan.
The Bianconeri’s pursuit of the Argentine forward leaves the door wide open for the Gunners to pounce on Higuain, the talented Real Madrid forward that Wenger has reportedly launched a record breaking bid for.
Tevez is a good option for Juve who, like Arsenal, require a top class forward to lead the line. Higuain is the player that many Gooners are craving for, and as the Turin outfit were their main opposition for the strikers signature, if they choose to pursue Tevez a deal for the North London side seems even more probable.
While the report from Italy lacks substance, let us hope it becomes true and Tevez seeks a move away from the Citizens and heads to Serie A. Not only will the Premier League side lose a star name, hopefully it’ll put Arsenal back into the driving seat for Higuain!
