Arsenal will face a massive uphill battle to keep Alexis Sanchez with Juventus joining the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid in vying for his signature this summer, with no new contract signed in north London…Yet (via Daily Mirror).
The Chilean star has plenty of suitors this summer with his transfer value relatively low with just the one year remaining on his contract, meaning some of Europe’s elite clubs are able to put together competitive wage packages to offer Sanchez the £250,000-a-week salary he is seeking at Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger’s side have seemingly offered a contract believed to be worth around £180,000-a-week, however the striker is after £70k+ more and most likely to see the state of the club come the end of this season with the bosses future in doubt as well as fellow star Mesut Ozil.

Juventus are a real threat considering their Champions League calibre, and it is a move you could see him making should Arsenal fail to meet his demands financially and in their competitiveness for silverware.

From Arsenal’s perspective, it is worth them meeting the £250k asking price for a player who has proven to be one of the most consistent of performers across the entire competition over the last few years since his arrival from Barcelona in 2014. Whether or not Juventus are actually interested in spending that much on one player per week remains to be seen, it may well be Sanchez’s agents stirring the pot to get his client a better deal, but in terms of footballing ambition it’s difficult to argue that the likes of Atletico and Juve present alluring options for the determined Chile international.
In terms of the Gunners wage structure, it’s difficult not to agree that he’s earned the level of figure he’s demanding and produces a lot more than say Theo Walcott who sits on a nice £110,000-a-week deal, or Aaron Ramsey on just as much.
The Gunners will be back to square one if they lose Sanchez this summer, and they will end up forking up just as much if not more to sign a replacement considering the extortionate transfer fees. There could be opportunities in the market should the likes of Karim Benzema become available, but would it not be much simpler to just pay the money and lock in Sanchez for the long term?
