Roy Keane has warned Arsenal not to get carried away over Theo Walcott after the 27-year-old scored both goals in the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Basel in the Champions League.
Walcott opened the scoring in the seventh minute, nodding home Alexis Sanchez’s cross before firing home a second 20 minutes later to seal the victory.
Walcott has returned to form with a bang this season after being restored to the right-wing and has already bagged five goals. He is currently level with Alexis Sanchez as Arsenal’s leading goalscorer.
However, Keane in typically forthright fashion, was reluctant to praise Walcott and feels the Arsenal star needs to produce such performances consistently.
“It’s took him a while to get settled,” Keane said (via The Telegraph). “Listen he’s had a good week. The guy needs to relax. Try to play well for the next seven or eight months.”
“[Wednesday] was a lovely game for Arsenal. When they’re in that form and have that amount of possession, they’re great to watch – they could’ve seven, eight, nine goals easily.

“But the crunch games are still to come for them, when the cold nights come in, with half the Arsenal players with their gloves on, so I wouldn’t be getting carried away with Walcott.”
Walcott has now scored three goals in his last two games and few would back against him adding to that tally on Sunday when the Gunners travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in the Premier League.
There is little coincidence that Arsenal’s return to form has something to do with Walcott. Often the Englishman has been at the heart of some of the Gunners best performances over the last few seasons. The 2-1 win over Manchester City at home last season, the 3-0 smashing of Manchester United, the FA Cup final thumping of Aston Villa in 2015. All featured a mesmerising Walcott who fought tooth and nail, he can be a real weapon this season.
