Mesut Özil’s agent has been stirring the pot recently, and suggested that a move to Turkey is a “serious option” for his client, as reported by talkSPORT.
The German international made a club record £42.5m (via talkSPORT) move from Real Madrid back in 2013, and has enjoyed mixed success in England. He struggled to adapt to the rigours of the English game initially, but has become a hugely important part of Arsene Wenger’s plans more recently.
He came back a new player following a lengthy spell on the sidelines last season, and we now look a far better side with him in the team.
Özil has come in for a huge amount of criticism during his time at Arsenal, prompting links to a move away. His Turkish heritage has seen him heavily linked with a somewhat surprising move to the Super Lig, with his agent fanning the flames regarding a move to Fenerbahce.
“Fenerbahce want Mesut but it all depends on what Arsenal want and it is hard to figure out what they will decide until the end of the season,” he is quoted as saying.
“If he does end up leaving Arsenal, Fenerbahce would be a serious option.”

We would be mad to let a player of Özil’s calibre go, and no team in the Turkish league is likely to be able to afford the money we would demand if we were to consider letting our record signing leave.
Arsenal transfer news
It’s strange that his agent would come out with these comments following the close of the transfer window, and there really seems to be no sense behind it. Özil seems happy at Arsenal, so hopefully he remains a Gunner for many, many years.
