We are the Arsenal and we are in the FA Cup semifinal for a record 28th time. Despite our back to back Wembley apperances some fans still find it difficult to appreciate Arsene Wenger and his quite splendid record in this greatest of Cup Competitions. Well I am deviating off the topic, today is a red letter day in Arsenal’s season and let’s enjoy that. Despite the fact that we are the overwhelming favorites for the tie, the FA Cup is notorious for throwing up unpleasant shocks. Reading may be languishing in the Championship but let’s not forget what happened last season when we nearly bottled it against a Championship side, Wigan. Arsenal have to play like Arsenal to progress to the finals.
Laurent Koscielny vs Pavel Pogrebynak
The Russian is Premier League quality. He is one of the few names in the Reading line up who has actually played in the top level of English football. The former Fulham man is a sharp finisher and is also adept at linking up play. Arsenal must not underestimate the Reading attacker and Koscielny will be the man to mark him. Its no coincidence that Arsenal’s best run of form has coincided with Koscielny’s return. The Frenchman is a Top Gun and he is one of the best defenders in the league. It’s a contest which you would expect the athletic Frenchman to win.

This is the key battle in the game. The winner of this battle will win the game, its as simple as that. Reading manager Steve Clarke conceded that he will play a tight game looking to nick one on the counter. But keeping the Arsenal attack at bay is easier said than done. Alexis, Ozil, Giroud, Cazorla, Ramsey, Welbeck; the list goes on. It’s wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that our attack is one of the best in Europe if it clicks. That said, Arsenal always have in their locker a Monaco or a Stoke when all the players breakdown completely. Complacency is one thing which Arsenal should eliminate completely from their mindset. The first goal is crucial.
Its our fourth Wembley appearance in a year and the players will be hungry to make it 5 and more. Whatever happens, let’s enjoy the occasion cause We are the Arsenal and We are going to Wembley. What did she wear??
