Arsenal target Sami Khedira is reportedly set for a move away from Real Madrid after showdown talks with the Spanish giants, according to reports in the Metro.
The 27 year old has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid for some weeks and his absence from Ancelotti’s starting eleven in the recent Super Cup Final win over Sevilla may have proven the final straw for the tough tackling midfielder.
The German has just a year to run on his current deal and as such the Spanish giants are said to be keen on selling the former Stuttgart man now so as to avoid the prospect of losing the player on a free transfer next summer.
The report states that Khedira wants to quit Real after holding unsuccessful talks with coach Carlo Ancelotti. The midfielder’s agent spoke with Bayern’s representatives after the player confirmed his intentions to leave Los Blancos and will now fly to London in the coming days to thrash out deals with Arsenal and Chelsea.
It further states that the Chelsea are in pole position to land the midfielder, with the player preferring to play under his former coach Jose Mourinho, despite Arsenal having been linked with the German all summer.

Style of Play:
Khedira is good at plugging gaps and also breaking forward at pace, while he has more energy and mobility than Arteta. He likes to press higher up the pitch to win the ball back, which makes him more suited to the box to box role. His defensive abilities do really stand out and it’s not unreasonable to suggest that he will vastly improve Arsenal’s solidity in their own half.
Should we Buy?
Khedira has the power and drive the Gunners need more of in midfield. He can be an able supporting runner for the buccaneering raids of talisman Aaron Ramsey and can also offer a more robust edge to the Gunners attempts to scrap for possession and stymie opposition breaks.
He is certainly a worthy target for Arsenal, however his wage demands have so far stalled this deal and that is unlikely to change. The report fails to clarify which club the agent is due to meet with, but Chelsea are the likeliest of candidates as Mourinho holds a strong affinity towards Khedira after helping him become the player he is. The Gunners might still sign him but the probability of that happening is slowly fading.
