The Gunners moved back to the top of the Premier League table with a 3-1 win over Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to goals from Aaron Ramsey,Per Mertesacker and Bacary Sagna.
The Englishman believes the Gunners have gelled very well since going on a 10-game unbeaten run at the end of last season .
Speaking to Arsenal official website, he said:
I think the team is just gelling. We’ve had a strong finish to last season and people could see the players really gel. I think that’s happening this season at an earlier stage.
I’m very excited about the quality of the squad and when we get more players back from injury I feel like we’ll be a force. We need to keep focused and build on our run. I’m sure we can be contenders.
The 23-year-old also praised the impact of new signing Mesut Ozil on the team and more importantly, on the pitch. He added:
He’s really enjoying himself. He looks very determined and happy and he’s a humble boy as well. Coming from a club like Real Madrid you would expect a player to come with a bigger head on their shoulders but he’s very down to earth and he’s passionate.
It’s positive for us and a signing like Ozil is going to push our squad forward because you don’t want to let him down. You want to perform for him and he will take us to the next level.
Gibbs himself had a great start to the season with consistent performances at the left back position and has improved leaps and bounds compared to the last season. Last season he made a lot of mistakes as he couldn’t balance the attack and defense but has become a lot more stabilized this season which is a good sign.

I think it’s a bit too early to talk about the Gunners chances of winning the title but looking at the Premier League table and seeing Arsenal at the top always gives us the hope. If the squad can stay injury free and manager Arsene Wenger will be able to put his best eleven on the field for the majority of the season or at least until January then we will have more than a great chance of ending the trophy drought.
Obviously it’s a bit too much to ask for but if Arsenal are within touching distance in January, and Wenger can recruit the right players then i believe it will be enough to bring the silverware back to the club.
