Laurent Koscielny has claimed that Arsenal won’t underestimate Rennes in their Europa League clash (via ActuDaily).
It’s taken something of a backseat at Arsenal wedged in between matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United but the Gunners have another big fixture on Thursday.
Unai Emery’s side travels to France to take on Rennes in the first leg of their Europa League knockout match.
It’s something of a homecoming for club captain Laurent Koscielny who returns to the same region of France where he spent some of his earlier career.
“I know Brittany, Lorient, and Guingamp,” he told RMC Sport. “For us French people, it’s always a pleasure to come back to France.”
Koscielny was then asked more specifically about Arsenal’s opposition, Rennes who got past Real Betis in the previous round.
“We know it will be a complicated match. They have qualities, they proved it against Betis.
“They showed that they could make great European matches. We will go there with a lot of seriousness.”
It’s going to be a tough match against Rennes on Thursday. Unai Emery must be considering resting a couple of players with one eye on Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United. It makes a lot of sense but surely, Laurent Koscielny will want to play in the first leg back in France.
