Laurent Koscielny has claimed that the problem which led to Arsenal’s dismal 4-0 defeat to Liverpool last month was a lack of team unity (via Arsenal.com).
The season may be just a month old but it’s likely that Arsenal have already had their worst moment of 2017-18 away at Liverpool in August.
The Gunners lost 4-0 in a match which could’ve been much worse for Arsene Wenger’s men had Liverpool been able to convert more than a few chances.
“Against Liverpool, we didn’t play,” Laurent Koscielny said of the defeat. “We didn’t run for our team-mates, we didn’t give a solution for our team-mates and so we had a lot of things that we didn’t do.
“We had to respond well after the international break and I think we did because all of the players were focused on our jobs.”

The Gunners have been much better since then, winning three out of four matches with the sole draw coming from a spirited performance at Chelsea.
“We feel stronger,” Koscielny continued. “Physically we are better and we can see during the games, we run more, we can help our team-mates more on defensive jobs and we are more focused.
“After the defeat at Liverpool, we changed a lot of things and we could see that against Bournemouth and at Chelsea too. I think we need to keep this for the other games we’ll have because if we keep the same mentality, we can have some good results.”
The good results will have to continue against West Bromwich Albion this evening. After the rest of the top six won on Saturday, the Gunners will need all three points in order to keep up with the pack.
