Fulham have just completed the signing of alleged one time Arsenal transfer target Kostas Mitroglou. Although he hasn’t been mentioned in relation to Arsenal recently, there was certainly a time when we were heavily linked with the Greek hit man. But what I’d like to know is whether the rest of you Gooners believe this is a target we have missed out on, or if he is not Arsenal quality, and we are better off waiting until the summer for a better striking option.
The Olympiacos front man definitely knows how to find the back of the net, with 14 goals in 12 appearances in the Greek Super League this season. His numbers in previous seasons have been impressive too, not just in the Greek domestic competitions, but in the Champions League as well. As we have seen on a number of occasions however, the Premier League is a completely different beast, and many players have failed to adapt after looking fantastic overseas.
It’s looking more and more likely that Arsenal won’t sign a forward this window, so have we missed out on a player who could contribute to a title push this season? Or will waiting until the summer to hopefully get a world class striker be better for the club in the long run? What do you think Gooners?
