La Liga expert Guillem Balague insists that our reported interest in Celta Vigo striker Nolito is absolute nonsense, and claims the story has merely been fabricated by the Catalan press.
Recent reports have suggested we were looking to bring the Spaniard to the Emirates in January, with Arsene Wenger even willing to go above and beyond the forward’s release clause in order to get a deal done (via Goal).
Balague has rubbished these rumours though, suggesting Nolito is only interested in a move to Barcelona.
Arsenal not interested at all in Nolito. Not by chance the stories come out in the Catalan press (he wants to go to FCB).

Whether true or not, it’s hardly surprising to hear that we aren’t interested in Nolito. There were question marks raised over his suitability even before this, and that hasn’t changed.
He is not a player who has shown consistent quality, and we have no idea how long he will continue to show the form he’s been displaying this season. He’s also 29-years-old, and it’s unclear how long he has left at the top level.

It’s hard to see him succeeding at either Arsenal or Barcelona, and we know full well that rumours often prove to be just that, rumours. It seems highly likely that he’ll remain with Celta Vigo, especially given the relatively high fees being touted for a player of his age.
Arsenal transfer news
Hopefully Wenger has some other targets on his radar and we finally see a few outfield players signed this January. After a hugely disappointing summer transfer window we need a boost this winter, but does Wenger share our opinions? A striker is not the only thing on our Christmas shopping list, and arguably acquiring a defensive midfielder is far more vital.
