We have recently been linked with a massive £40m move for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema (via the Metro), but Gerry Armstrong insists that there is no chance we will get our man.
The Sky Sports La Liga expert claims Benzema is going nowhere this summer, regardless of how much we offer. He believes the Frenchman is the perfect partner for Cristiano Ronaldo, and for that reason the Spanish giants won’t want to sell their star striker.
“Arsenal have absolutely no chance of signing Benzema because Real Madrid will not break up their fantastic front three (Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale),” Armstrong said, as quoted by the Metro.
“I’ve seen reports that Arsenal have offered £40million for him. It’s a lot of money but I have heard he’s going nowhere.
“Benzema is the perfect partner for Ronaldo. He scores goals but he is also lays on a lot and that is why he is so valuable to the club.”
Arsene Wenger is known to be a fan of his compatriot, and there’s no question Benzema would be an excellent acquisition. We can’t afford to wait on Real Madrid to finally look to offload the 27-year-old though, and must look at other options in the transfer market.

Top quality strikers are hard to come by nowadays, and massive transfer fees are often demanded. We no longer have the same financial restraints that we had in the past though, so we shouldn’t let a hefty asking price put us off.
