We have been credited with an interest in Sevilla’s tough tackling midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak for quite some time now, and the rumours have been picking up speed in recent weeks (via ESPN).
Vicente Iborra, a midfielder for the La Liga side, claims he is concerned about the ongoing transfer stories, and fears that we could meet his teammate’s €30m release clause and pry him away, the report suggests.
“Of course I am concerned that Krychowiak could be taken away,” Iborra said.
“I always want to have the best players in the team. He brings so much. I hope he stays. I understand Sevilla’s position, it is clear, and I hope nobody pays that clause, and he stays with us.”
A defensive midfielder has to be a priority in the transfer market, as we are currently relying solely on Francis Coquelin. The Frenchman has shown himself to be a superb option at the base of midfield, but we can’t assume he will remain injury free and in form for the entirety of the campaign.
Iborra seems to suggest that Sevilla are determined to hold onto Krychowiak, and with the club now financially stable and in the Champions League they are not likely to be forced into selling.

If we meet his release clause however, then the decision will be taken out of their hands, and surely playing for Arsenal is a far more enticing prospect – not to mention the presumably superior wage packet we could offer.
The 25-year-old has only been at the club for a single season, but has really caught the eye since his move from Reims. He would be a fantastic signing, so hopefully Arsene Wenger is willing to splash the cash to bring him in.

There are very few top quality defensive midfielders available at the moment, so we can’t afford to miss out on Sevilla’s Polish star.
