Samir Nasri has been subject of hot transfer speculation, while heavily linked with a summer move away from the Emirates to rivals Manchester United, he gave a recent interview which will help to calm the minds of Arsenal fans.
“There is not much to say apart from don’t listen to all the rumours and everything that is written or said,” Nasri said to Arsenal’s official club magazine. “Earlier in the season I spoke with the boss and we said we would talk during the summer, which is what we are going to do.”
Approaching his last year of his contract, the France midfielder has to come to an agreement with Arsenal very soon otherwise he will be on his way for a measly £8-9 mil otherwise Arsenal run the risk of loosing him on a Bosman Free transfer at the end of next season. After the disastrous incident that saw Flamini escape to AC Milan for free a few seasons back, Wenger will be doing everything he can to keep Nasri.
Nasri’s blitzing form at the first half of the season saw him gain the French Footballer of the Year prize and take his place in the PFA Team of the Year after securing a nomination for the main PFA Player award.
“As a player, it is hard to stay at the top of your game,” he said after his best season at the Emirates, which nevertheless suffered a lapse in form as the season went on. “I don’t want last season to be just a one-off. I want to continue playing at my best and be consistent at the level I was at the start of last season.
He finishes the interview by saying, “We have improved so much, and if the boss adds some good players, I really believe a trophy will be won.”
