Arsenal are facing stiff competition in the race to sign highly-rated Torino striker Andrea Belotti, with Liverpool appearing to have the edge over the Gunners for the hitman.
According to CalcioMercatoWeb, the Merseyside are eager to make an offer for the Italy international and are preparing a £19.5million bid next summer.
Belotti joined Torino from Palermo in 2015 and since then has made 40 appearances and scored a decent 17 goals. He has netted five goals and bagged two assists in six appearances this season and there is little surprise why top Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the striker.
The 22-year-old is currently tied to the Serie Club until June 2020 but the club might be tempted to sell him at the right price.
The Italian media suggests Jürgen Klopp has taken steps to ensure they do not lose the striker to Arsenal who are always linked with top centre forwards especially now with Alexis Sanchez’s contract in a precarious position.
Arsene Wenger added Lucas Perez to his squad this summer but the Spaniard is yet to play full 90-minutes in the Premier League. Though the manager has played him in the EFL tie against Nottingham Forest, the Gunners are yet to witness Perez’s full potential against top opposition.

With Alexis Sanchez in a fine form playing upfront and Giroud also among the pack with Perez as an attacking option, it is unlikely Wenger will be desperate to add Belotti to the squad next summer unless of course Alexis refuses a new contract meaning the Gunners will have to find a suitable replacement.
Whether Belotti is the man for the job, only time will tell. It’ll be interesting to see how this saga unfolds and how the young man progresses this season in Serie A.
