There is something Wenger cherishes more than any top four finish or trophy and that is loyalty.
Alexander Hleb, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy, Robin Van Persie, Alex Song, and Emmanuel Adebayor. They all have alot in common. They left Arsenal when in their prime, won various trophies with their clubs and in most cases, have become squad players for their respective teams.
Hleb, Song and Fabregas left for Barcelona after being courted for a whole season. They were key members of Arsenal and yet failed to hold down a starting berth in Barcelona. Fabregas is the latest player to regret leaving Arsenal after been booed by his own fans and yet at Arsenal, Wenger had built his whole team around him. What a fall from grace. Van Persie left for Manchester United after one good injury free season with Arsenal and won the Premier League in his first season with United. He might not even play Europa League football next season. Wenger had stood by him through all his injuries. Clichy and Nasri have achieved both money and success on the field and congratulations to them as they are on the verge of their second Premier league trophy. Success stories.
I have no hard feelings towards these players and I can only congratulate them on what they have achieved since they left Arsenal. However I want to concentrate on the ease in which they left the club without a fight. Why did Wenger just let them leave? Are we really a selling club? Didn’t these players have contracts?
To answer all these questions, ask yourself, “What is the point of keeping a player who is not committed to the cause?”

Let us look at the players we currently have. Szcezny, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshere, Ozil, Carzola, Podolski, AOC, Walcott, and Giroud.
These are players who are loyal to the club. Podolski is not happy due to his lack of playing time but has anyone ever doubted his love for the club? Barcelona really want Koscielny but is anyone worried about him leaving? Walcott was once courted by Chelsea but stayed put to show his appreciation for the way the club stood by him. Even Giroud, who has split fans’ opinions about him, wants to commit his future to the club.
You cannot buy loyalty and Wenger has painstakingly built a team that is loyal to the club. A slow but sure process and one that is about to be rewarded with success starting with the FA cup.
