Riyad Mahrez has been discussing potential interest from Arsenal after Arsene Wenger revealed his admiration for the Leicester star.
Now responding to Wenger’s comments, Mahrez admits he is flattered to hear Wenger’s words although he did also confirm the club have not been in contact.
“It’s an honour to receive compliments like this from such a big manager [Wenger] in world football,” Mahrez said via Standard Sport.
“But there’s a big difference between an offer and speculation, so there is nothing on the table at the moment.”
Mahrez has already confirmed he wants to leave Leicester this summer and despite a fairly underwhelming season last time out, he should not lack for suitors.

Recent speculation from Spain has claimed Arsenal and Chelsea lead the race but Mahrez is waiting to hear from Barcelona, his preferred destination, before making a decision.
Wenger’s comments suggested Arsenal could make a move for Mahrez, although he does not appear a priority target and much may depend on which players they manage to land, and who departs, with regards whether they take that interest further.
