According to the Daily Star, reports ‘in Spain’ are suggesting Mesut Ozil is after a move to our Premier League rivals Manchester City.
The crocked 26-year-old is currently sidelined with a knee injury and is expected to be out until the New Year. Since joining in 2013, the club record signing has suffered a tough time adjusting to life in England and has produced inconsistent displays.
City become the second high profile side ‘interested’ in the midfield maestro. Bayern Munich have also been accredited with some interest recently too, Pep Guardiola is allegedly set to make a move this winter to bring Ozil back to his homeland and pull him out of his rut in England.
The widespread reports in the English media seem to quote Spanish news website Fichajes.net, so the ‘news’ must be taken with a container load of salt. Don’t worry Gooners!
A fee of £32m has been quoted for the World Cup winner, and no doubt stories will keep on rolling out for the remainder of the year. It will be awhile until he returns and proves he wants to remain in north London with the performances we know he’s capable of. But its safe to say he’s here for the season ahead at least.
