Morgan Schneiderlin has been a long term target of ours (via the Daily Star), but we look close to missing out on him now. Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal worth £25m for the Southampton midfielder, but he is holding out for a move to the Emirates instead, according to the Daily Star.

The report claims Manchester United have agreed a £20m deal with the Saints, with £5m in add-ons potentially set to be paid.
A tweet from France Football’s oft-reliable Philippe Auclair suggests he is more keen on a switch to Arsenal however, and would prefer a move to North London rather than Manchester.
Schneiderlin: told that that player favours AFC, but also told of problems between club and representatives of the player.

He goes on to say there are “problems between club and representatives of the player” though, which makes sense when you do a bit of digging.

Morgan Schneiderlin is currently represented by Pascal Boisseau (via The Guardian), who also represents former Arsenal star Gervinho (via Calcio Mercato). We didn’t exactly part ways with the Ivorian on the best of terms, and its perfectly believable that there is some bad blood between us and Boisseau.
Agents often have a lot of power over their clients, but if the French midfielder really is keen on a move to Arsenal then it’s hard to see him being swayed. If we can match Manchester United’s offer, then we should be in with a good chance of signing him.
