Roy Keane seems incapable of letting his hatred of Arsenal go, and likes to take digs at our club whenever possible. His latest Arsenal related rant comes after our excellent win over Bayern Munich, and the former Irish international claims we are still too “soft”, as reported by Irish publication Balls.
The Ex-Man United man was famed for his constant feud with Arsenal and Patrick Vieira in particular, and has continued that feud long into retirement.
We got a name for being a little lightweight during our difficult trophyless period, and Keane has stuck with that stereotype.
“They’re still soft,” he said.
“Just because they beat Bayern Munich. I thought they’d get a result. They were desperate for a result.
“I’ve said all along they’re a top quality team going forward, but they rode their luck again last night and the goalkeeper made some good saves. They’ve still got a lot to do to get out of the group.”

We’ve been far from soft in recent seasons though, with the likes of Mathieu Flamini and Francis Coquelin adding real steel and grit in midfield. We have an excellent defensive record this season, and haven’t allowed ourselves to be bullied. Not to mention the fact that we have a powerful target-man in Olivier Giroud who can add some brawn up front when needed.
Keane has an idea about Arsenal in his head, and he’s unlikely to let it go, whatever we achieve.
Arsenal transfer news
Fans put very little stock in what the former Red Devil has to say though, and the name he’s gotten for being a grumpy, angry old man has lost him what little credibility he had.
