France manager Didier Deschamps has piled the praise on Olivier Giroud, claiming the forward is amongst the best in his position (via Sport Witness).
There’s no doubt that Olivier Giroud has become one of Arsenal’s most popular players amongst the club’s supporters in recent years.
The Frenchman was once a highly divisive figure but now serving as a backup to Alexandre Lacazette, Giroud is a hugely popular figure in North London.
He’s treated that way in his native France with no bigger fan than his national team manager, Didier Deschamps.
“For me, Olivier is one of the best forwards in his role,” Deschamps told RMC Sport.

“He’s someone who keeps the ball up really well, who knows how to make his number 10 or his wingers play because he has a target man game few strikers have.
“There isn’t a striker in the world who’s better than him as a target man. Especially with the France team, he scores, so you can’t hold anything against him.
“At club level, he doesn’t play that much, but when you have a player in the national team who scores and helps the team win, you can’t say anything.”
Olivier Giroud is integral to the France national team despite international teammate Alexandre Lacazette being more important to Arsenal. There’s no doubt that Giroud is a quality player when used in the right circumstances.
