Manchester City are reportedly planning to make a late £70 million bid for Alexis Sanchez and hope to close a deal before the end of the transfer window on August 31.
Sanchez’s future continues to be the subject of speculation with the Chilean yet to extend his contract, although Arsenal continue to insist he will not be sold.
However, their resolves looks set to be tested this month, with the Mirror claiming City will offer big money for the 28-year-0ld.
The report claims Arsene Wenger is hopeful Sanchez will stay at Arsenal and sign a renewal worth £300,000-per-week.
Yet City reportedly feel they can tempt Arsenal into selling by offering £70m for his services, with Arsenal well aware he could walk away for free next summer.
Pep Guardiola is believed to want Alexis Sanchez as part of a fiercesome frontline alongside Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero at the Etihad.

City can also offer Champions League football, unlike Arsenal, and the report claims that Guardiola’s side are Sanchez’s preference.
Whether the Chilean is willing to push for a move remains to be seen, with recent reports having claimed he has accepted he will not be sold and is willing to spend one more season in north London.
Wenger is adamant Sanchez will not be sold, although a huge bid will surely leave the club with something of a dilemma, as Sanchez is in the last year of his current deal.
We await developments, but until the window finally slams shut, it seems certain the Sanchez speculation will unfortunately continue to rumble on.
