Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal will be adversaries when we go head-to-head with Manchester United in the FA Cup this Monday, but the Dutchman had nothing but good things to say about Wenger in a recent interview, as reported by the Daily Star.
We still have to play the Red Devils twice this season – once in the cup and once in the league. Both games will be at Old Trafford, and both are likely to be tight affairs.
Wenger is very clear about what he expects from Arsenal, and while many fans may not agree, finishing in the top four has always been a priority for the Frenchman.
Van Gaal seems to be on the same page too, and claims Wenger is right to stress the importance of Champions League qualification.
“I think Arsene Wenger is always saying the right things – for any club, the Champions League is the highest level,” he said.

“To finish in the top four, it’s a fantastic achievement, and more so for Manchester United.”
United are just a point behind us in fourth place, holding onto their position with a late Ashley Young goal against Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.
We will have to put the Premier League out of our minds however, with the FA Cup looking like the only path to silverware for both sides.
“Usually against the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea you have to be at your best,” he continued.
“In this league, when you’re not, it’s difficult to beat an opponent.
“We saw that yesterday (against Newcastle), you need some luck, Rooney’s goal was ruled out [for offside], there are a lot of aspects you can’t control.”
United have rarely been at their best this season, but have still managed to pick up wins. Hopefully we can put an end to that this Monday, and secure our place in the next round of the FA Cup.
