Manchester United v Arsenal
Barclays Premier League
Kick off: November 10, 2013 4:10 PM BST
With the news that Arsenal had been hit by a virus before the game, and Mertesacker and Rosicky were out, a lot of my earlier confidence evaporated. When something like that happens you often get that feeling that things just aren’t going to go your way.
We didn’t get off to a fantastic start, United pressing well and Arsenal finding it hard to get any decent possession. Giroud was struggling to hold up the ball and I felt we needed to settle down a bit.

We weren’t allowed the opportunity to settle though. When United swung a corner in, it had to be Van Persie getting his head on it at the near post. The ball looped over everyone and into the net at the far post; 1-0 United.
There were two worrisome moments, one for each side. Szczesny being knocked momentarily unconscious by Phil Jones, but carrying on. And Nemanja Vidic taking his own keeper’s leg to the face, also being laid out on the floor. He went into the tunnel and it remains to be seen if he will return for the second half.
A poor showing from Arsenal in the first half considering our recent form, and I am left wondering how much of it is down to the virus leaving the team a bit shaken. We will need a far better showing from the boys in the second half if we are to get anything from this game.
