Marseille’s director of football Andoni Zubizaretta has claimed that he is ‘tempted’ by the reports linking him with a move to Arsenal (via Sport Witness).
Arsenal’s search for a Technical Director is proving to be more difficult than their on-field recruitment.
The new position is yet to be filled while Arsenal are without a Head of Recruitment following the departure of Sven Mislintat earlier in the year.
Arsenal failed to land either Monchi or Marc Overmars and it seems they have found another potential candidate for the role in France.
The man in question is Andoni Zubizarreta, the former FC Barcelona chief and colleague of Raul Sanllehi.

French publication L’Equipe has claimed that Zubizarreta is ‘bored’ at current club Marseille due to the side’s lack of ambition, hence his temptation about joining Arsenal.
The paper also asked Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud about the reports and he said that Arsenal is part of the world’s top 10, and in all companies I’ve managed, I’ve always been very flattered that a leader in the sector is interested in one of my collaborators.
“That being said, this information does not seem to me to be topical. Andoni, like all the staff, remains fully focused on the end of the season. This does not preclude thinking also of the one after.”
It’s an interesting series of quotes from Marseille’s president. It seems that an interest in Andoni Zubizarreta is genuine which does make a lot of sense as far as Arsenal are concerned. The Spaniard has worked with Raul Sanllehi in the past and must have a good relationship.
