Marseille have confirmed their interest in Arsenal attacker Gervinho as the Ligue One outfit look to inject their side with some pace and skill.
Gervinho has endured a tough time since his move from Lille in 2011 and has been tipped to complete a move away from the club this summer despite declaring he wants to compete for his spot. It may be out of his hands however as Arsene Wenger plans to beef up the squad prior to the start of next season.
Marseille have been linked recently with the Ivorian and now the club have spoken out of their interest.
Marseille assistant coach Franck Passi revealed in an interview according to the Daily Mail:
This is a profile that interests us, yes. We want flank players, with dribbling, passing and scoring and Gervinho has this profile.
The Ivory Coast international has fallen heavily down the pecking order over the course of the season and hardly featured during the Gunners season run-in.
Personally I’d be more than happy for him to leave this summer while his market value is still decent and there is interest in him. He has proven over the past two seasons that while he fundamentally has pace, skill and trickery his finishing, decision making and consistency begs the question whether he is worth keeping as a first team contender.

At 26-years-old he should be approaching his prime but continues to frustrate in an Arsenal shirt. In saying that though he is not a bad player to have to improve squad depth for next season during the Cup matches, however if there is a chance to cash in on him to plow more funds into a deal for a big name star signing I’d be all for that!
