Arsenal’s attempts to play out from the defence were often thwarted by Pep Guardiola’s men who took the early lead when Raheem Sterling cut inside and his deflected shot got past Petr Cech.
The Gunners came out after halftime in good form and looked a threat, especially after Alexandre Lacazette was brought onto the field.

However, City pushed back and grabbed a crucial second goal when Bernardo Silva latched onto a cut back before curling one into the top corner.
The Gunners created a couple of opportunities late on but things ended in frustrating fashion despite a number of positives.
