Arsenal squandered a 1-0 lead only to lose 2-1 to Watford in the first Premier League match after the international break.
Captain Per Mertesacker capped his return to the starting lineup in the league with a first-half goal and things looked rosy for Arsenal.
Mesut Ozil even made a return to action for the Gunners but, unfortunately, things weren’t to be. Troy Deeney came off the bench to convert a penalty for Watford before Tom Cleverley was on hand to convert a late chance for the home side.
