Matchday: Team News – Player Ratings – Match Highlights
Match: Arsenal v Benfica
Stadium: Emirates Stadium, London
Kick-Off (GMT): Sat 29th July 16:20
The annual Emirates Cup tournament kicks off this afternoon with Arsenal playing host to Benfica in the first of two games this weekend. RB Leipzig are also in action against Sevilla in the afternoon’s other fixture.
With the Gunners having won the tournament four times since its inception in 2007, fans will want to see a fifth victory to give a solid foundation to build on.
The winner will come from one of the four teams that collects the most points, but be aware that if teams are level at the end of the tournament on Sunday then goal difference and the number of the shots on target are used to pick a winner.
The big news leading up to the game is that Alexis Sanchez was meant to return to training today as Arsenal play at the Emirates, but as he revealed via Instagram he’s suffering from illness – you can read more about that here.
Otherwise, the key figure all the home fans will be looking forward to seeing is marquee signing Alexandre Lacazette who will play in the red and white for the first time at the Emirates.

Read Kolasinac is another player set to make his Emirates Stadium debut, so there will be plenty of intrigue to see how much progress is being made ahead of the Premier League season.
