Matchday: Team News – Player Ratings – Match Highlights
Match: Arsenal v Brighton
Stadium: Emirates Stadium
Kick-Off (GMT): Sun 1 Oct 12:00
It’s the first time Arsenal have played a home match against Brighton since 1983. The Gunners won 3-1 that day but it’s not the first time the two sides have met since then. The two clubs have been drawn against one another twice in the FA Cup with the Gunners triumphing 3-2 in both matches but Arsene Wenger will be hoping for a more straightforward match on Sunday afternoon
The Gunners will be without Mesut Ozil for the clash but the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Alex Iwobi and Sead Kolasinac are all expected to be fit enough to play.
The Seagull will be without Tomer Hemed who starts a three match ban for violent conduct. Chris Hughton will also be without Steve Sidwell and Berem Kayal but Glenn Murray and Sam Baldock could return in time.
Arsenal are the firm favourites for the clash with bookmakers. The best price for a home win is 3/11 according to the Smartbets Odds Calculator with the visitors out at 14/1. Alexandre Lacazette is on form at the Emirates and the Gunners are back scoring goals. a 3-0 isn’t totally out of the question at 15/2.
