Matchday: Team News – Player Ratings – Match Highlights
Match: Arsenal v Chelsea
Stadium: Wembley Stadium
Kick-Off (GMT): Sun 6 Aug 14:00
It’s the season opener as Arsenal take on Chelsea in the 2017 Community Shield. The winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup will traditionally meet at Wembley Stadium on the final Sunday before the new season begins. The Gunners are looking for their third title in four seasons after triumphs of both Chelsea and Manchester City in previous years.
It’s a big ask for Arsene Wenger’s men to try and overthrow the Blues after their performance in the Premier League last season. However, the Gunners did triumph in the last meeting between the two sides at Wembley at the FA Cup final and will be hoping for a repeat.

Chelsea may be the favourites but the Gunners could well triumph. As previously discussed, they have an excellent record in the competition and will hopefully be welcoming back a couple of familiar faces. Chelsea are expected to be missing their key man Eden Hazard but Alexis Sanchez returned to training this week and will surely take part.
For this match, we expect a strong lineup named by Arsene Wenger. The Gunners a close to a full strength team after the returns of Alexis Sanchez and Shkodran Mustafi. We don’t think either will get a start but surely Alexis will be brought on from the bench at some point. In other areas, there are starts in order for Alex Iwobi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who have impressed during pre-season.
