Matteo Guendouzi has revealed why he elected to sign for Arsenal ahead of other sides including Paris Saint-Germain (via GFFN).
He’s only been at the club a couple of months but Matteo Guendouzi has made a big impression at the Emirates already.
The 19-year-old has played a lot more football than most Arsenal fans were expecting after making his £7 million move from Lorient earlier in the year.
Now, the Frenchman has claimed that the arrival of head coach Unai Emery played a major impact on why he elected to sign for the Gunners.
“He [Emery] was definitely a reason why I went. It was him who really wanted me to come to Arsenal,” Guendouzi told Canal Football Club.
“He is a very good manager, we have done very good results since the beginning of the season with him. He doesn’t come across as feeling under particular pressure, he is just doing what he loves to do.

“He has transmitted that to us on the pitch and that is why we are getting the results we are getting.
“It is true that PSG were very interested, like other teams, there were a lot of discussions, but for me, the best decision I could make was to join Arsenal.
“Once they positioned themselves, I didn’t hesitate, I orientated myself in that direction. I think when I was young I watched a lot of Arsenal, but the fact that there are a lot of French guys there played a big role.”
It’s nice to hear that Unai Emery is one of the main reasons Matteo Guendouzi elected to join the club. Both men have made a huge impact at the Emirates in a short time and have helped transform the atmosphere at the Emirates. Let’s hope it continues.
