Mesut Özil has been in phenomenal form this season, and has been instrumental in our successful start to the campaign. The German playmaker has assisted in every single one of his last five Premier League games, and if he does so again against Tottenham next weekend he’ll equal the record for assists in consecutive games.
Former Arsenal star turned Chelsea scum Cesc Fabregas currently holds the record with six (via the Daily Mail), but Özil is more than capable of bettering that tally. If he manages to grab an assist in the North London Derby then he could certainly beat the record, as our following fixtures are against West Bromwich Albion, Norwich, Sunderland, and Aston Villa – all of whom have been struggling recently.
Özil really doesn’t get the recognition he deserves, although admittedly that has been changing recently. The stats show just how creative he’s been since his arrival in 2013, and suggest he can continue in his current vein of form.
22 – Since debuting in September 2013, Mesut Ozil has the most assists in the Premier League (22). Craftwork.

9 – Mesut Özil has the most goal assists in Europe’s top five leagues this season. Roll. — OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) October 31, 2015
While it would be fantastic for Özil to hold this record, the team is what is important. The former Real Madrid star has been spurring the team on with his creativity recently, and hopefully he can continue to do so.

We have a fantastic chance to take the league by the scruff of the neck over the next few weeks, and with some of the usual suspects around us not at their best, it’s a great opportunity for us to capitalise.
