Record signing Mesut Özil has been hailed for his performances on the field this season, and has now been recognised off the field as well – picking up an award for German Football Ambassador 2015.
He was presented the award for his charity work, taking to Instagram to display his accolade.
The World Cup winner has been superb this season, particularly since returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury. He clearly spent some time in the gym, as he came back bigger and stronger than before, looking far better suited to deal with the rigours of the Premier League.
He didn’t enjoy the best first season at the club, but we are really starting to see the best of him in an Arsenal shirt now. He was one of the standout performers in 2015, and hopefully he can kick on and improve further in the new campaign.
- Arsenal told ‘no less than £50m’ for top defensive transfer target
- Arsenal keen to sign 16th best ranked Premier League stopper
- Arsenal keeping tabs on €40m Italy star after ‘outstanding’ season
The award comes shortly after he lifted his second trophy with us – third if you count the Community Sheild – and he will be hoping to add to his collection next season.
