While the German had more than his fair share of criticism last season, he also played a major role in our impressive second half performances last season.
Ozil is the opposite of Alexis Sanchez in so many ways.
While the Chilean never stops running, Ozil’s movement is deliberate and efficient. While Sanchez’s efforts to make things happen can often result in a misplaced pass, Ozil rarely gives the ball away even in attacking zones.

It is this which helped us a great deal last term – so often did we improve in the latter stages of matches as we’d kept possession so brilliantly in dangerous positions – largely thanks to Ozil – and tired the opponents out.
Both players have been criticised for their performances in the big games, but if Ozil and Alexis can combine well for the remainder of this season, we’ll be in for a treat.
