Despite the mammoth task facing us, there seems to be an air of confidence around the Arsenal camp – with Mesut Özil the latest star to issue a rallying cry, as reported by Turkish Football.
Our record signing has been in fantastic form since returning from injury, even being awarded the Player of the Month award in February.
He is well aware that it’s going to be tough to get a result against AS Monaco, but believes we have the quality to overturn the deficit if we put in a performance.
“Obviously it will be very hard because Monaco has a team that plays very defensively and acts strongly in defence,” he said.
“But when I look at our team, with our qualities, at the players we’ve got, then we can think positively and in football anything can happen.”

“We’re going there to win the game and to get to the next stage and if we believe in ourselves, we’ll succeed at that.”
Our 3-1 first leg loss has given us an absolute mountain to climb as we head to the principality, but with the form we are in at the moment it’s certainly not impossible.
Özil wasn’t at his best against West Ham last weekend, and the World Cup winner will need to step up his game when we face the Ligue 1 side.
With the likes of Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez, and Olivier Giroud, we have more than enough firepower to score three goals. But the question is, can we produce a performance when we need to the most, and when the pressure is on.
