Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta claims this is the best team in years, and says it’s certainly the best team since he arrived at the Emirates, according to the Daily Star.
The 33-year-old has spent much of this season injured, but is still leading his team from the sidelines. He has been rallying the troops ahead of our FA Cup semi-final clash with Reading, and insists that on current form we are more than capable of beating any team.
“We are very determined now and we believe that we can beat any team,” he said.
“We have a little of the arrogance that you need before the game, where you are sure if you do the right things you will win the game.”
The Spaniard went on to heap praise on the current squad, and believes this is the best team we’ve had since his time at Arsenal.
“We’ve got the best squad that we’ve had for years – since I’ve been here, for sure the best squad in numbers and quality,” he continued.
Arteta will be hoping to feature before the end of the season, as he is looking to renew his contract this summer, according to Goal.
His current deal is set to expire this summer, but unless he can get over the recurring calf injury he has been suffering with, then he may not be offered an extension.
