Nacho Monreal has revealed that he wants to sign a new contract at Arsenal and that talks are ongoing (via The Standard).
He’s been the subject of a number of transfer rumours in recent weeks but it seems as if Nacho Monreal wants to stay at the club.
Those clubs include FC Barcelona and Real Sociedad but it seems as if he wants to remain at Arsenal and even sign a new contract.
“At the moment we are talking with the club. I’ve always said I am really happy, I feel very happy playing for Arsenal. I came six years ago. I have a good relationship with them,” Monreal said.
“We are in contact in any moment so don’t worry about that. I am happy here. That is the most important thing.”
Monreal is 32 years old now and was asked if he thinks he could play until he’s 40 like Ryan Giggs did for Manchester United.

“That is my idea, that is what I want! We will see what happens but at the moment I am 32 and I will turn 33 but I feel good.
My idea is to play in football until my body says ‘Nacho, so sorry but that’s the end’. But I think it is far [away]. I hope so. You never know because your body, sometimes you start with some problems, some injuries and you can’t continue giving 100 per cent.
“But at the moment I feel good so I am not thinking of my retirement.”
Let’s hope that is true. Nacho Monreal is a hugely important player at Arsenal and hopefully, that will remain the same for several years to come.
