Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger’s feud is well known, and could be given renewed life after the Portuguese manager’s latest comments. Mourinho claims he wants to see Arsenal crash out of the Champions League, as he wants his “friend” at Olympiacos to succeed, as reported by the Daily Star.
While Mourinho may well be friends with Olympiacos manager Marco Silva, you have to think that there’s more to his comments than just that. He has to know the kind of reaction his words will garner, and he’s really just stirring unnecessarily.
He claims Arsenal losing to Olympiacos would be “fantastic”, something Wenger will no doubt be quizzed about by the media.
“They [Arsenal] are in a group where a kid friend of mine, Marco Silva, is the manager of Olympiakos,” Mourinho said.
“It would be fantastic for the kid’s career to go through, so I have to be honest and say that I would like the kid and Olympiakos to go on.”
Mourinho is known for attempting to deflect attention away from his own team’s failings by causing media mayhem, and it seems as though that’s exactly what he’s doing here. Chelsea are still languishing in 15th in the Premier League, and while they look likely to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League, there is still potential for them to crash out at this early stage.

The Blues boss seems to care more about making headlines and getting media attention than anything else, and has really gone down in the estimations of many in recent months. He’s shown himself to be an extremely bad loser this season in particular, and is really starting to lose what little appeal he had.
Arsenal transfer news
Hopefully we can get the 2-0 win over Olympiacos that we need, and disappoint both the Greek side and Mourinho. Qualification for the last 16 is massive, but leaving the Chelsea manager distraught is a fantastic bonus.
