Nigerian starlet Henry Onyekuru has claimed Arsenal have made a bid for him after it was reported the Gunners had agreed a fee for the 19-year-old.
Speculation earlier this week had claimed Arsene Wenger’s side had agreed to pay £6.8 million to KAS Eupen for his services, although later reports had downplayed Arsenal’s interest.
However, Onyekuru has now claimed Arsenal have made a bid for him and has also revealed what a huge fan of the club he is.
“I remember saying if I had to move to the Premier League I want to be like Thierry Henry, so it’s like a dream come true and I’m looking towards it at the moment,” he told the Nigerian Football Federation.
“It’s a good feeling for a club like Arsenal come to make an offer for me, this is due to my hard work in training and games. It’s a good feeling.
“I am waiting and working towards it and we’ll see how it goes after the [Nigeria] qualifiers.”

Onyekuru was the top scorer in Belgian football last season with 19 goals and also spoke about his admiration for one particular Arsenal legend.
“Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid,” he added.
“I love watching him play, watching Arsenal and going to YouTube to watch most of his games.”
There have been claims and counter-claims about this transfer, and Onyekuru is certainly not particularly well-known in England yet, but this does look like a transfer that could happen this summer.
