Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is prepared to wait until the end of the season before opening contract talks with star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in order to keep all eyes focused on the title, according to reports on ESPNFC .
Arsenal are currently second in the league, just two points behind leaders Leicester City, thanks in part to the performances of Ozil and Sanchez. And while suggestions have been made that the two players will be rewarded with bumper new contracts, Wenger believes that full-concentration must be applied to winning the Premier League.
When asked about contract talks for Sanchez and Ozil during his media press conference, Wenger reportedly said (via ESPNFC): “We’ll deal with that later in the season. At the moment we focus more on the present.”
Germany World Cup winner Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid back in 2013, and despite a slow first season playing in England he is now regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old former Werder Bremen midfielder is having his best season ever, topping the Premier League assists chart with 15 in 16 appearances, eight more than Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu and Leicester City’s Algerian international Riyad Mahrez.
Ozil’s current contract with Arsenal is set to expire in 2018, but it looks as though he is set to remain in North London after telling German football magazine Kicker (via the Independent) that he is very happy where he is.

“There is no rush to sign a new contract,” Ozil said.
“My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment.
“I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one.
“There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here.”
Arsenal fans will be relieved to read what Ozil has said, and given Alexis Sanchez’s transformation since moving to the Emirates from Barcelona it is easy to imagine he also feels the same way.
