Arsenal are close to concluding a deal for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, though Arsene Wenger’s indecisiveness is holding up the potential transfer at the moment, according to reliable Norwegian journalist Jan Åge Fjørtoft.
Re: Benzema I understand he is on the transfer-table. Arsenal sitting at the table, but Wenger hasn’t said “all in” yet #AFC
— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) August 19, 2015
Fjørtoft, who gained his reliability during his reports when we pulled off the signing of Mesut Ozil, claimed that all parties seem ready to do the deal apart from Wenger.
His latest update is interesting given that reports in Spain have been rife throughout the summer insisting that Wenger has been in constant dialogue with the French striker (via the Metro).
Wenger had previously gained a reputation for moving too slow in the transfer market, but that can certainly not be labelled at him in recent windows given how swiftly we moved to secure the likes of Petr Cech and Alexis Sanchez.

Also, with the calibre of player Benzema is, it would be rather strange for Wenger to be reluctant at the final hurdle given that we lack a world-class striker.
This Benzema saga looks like it will rumble on right up until deadline day.
