Mesut Ozil has assured fans he is close to a return to action after missing Arsenal’s last two games due to illness.
The Germany international was absent for the games against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth over the festive period with the Gunners picking up four points from the two games.
Arsene Wenger all but ruled Ozil out of Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Preston after revealing the star had been bed-ridden for the last two weeks.
However, Ozil has given fans a boost by hinting he could be available for selection soon after returning to the training ground.
“Returning to @Arsenal training ground after my flu. Not yet at 100% but I’m back #COYG,” he wrote on Twitter.

Speaking earlier in the day at his pre-match press conference Wenger has revealed that Ozil was coming in to be checked over by the club doctor to assess his current condition.
“Ozil is coming in today and will be assessed by the doctor,” Wenger said via the Express.
“He has been out for two weeks in bed and I can’t imagine he’ll be involved.”
Ozil could be back in action next weekend when Arsenal take the trip to the Liberty Stadium to face Paul Clement’s Swansea City.
