Two weekends ago, Arsenal FC faced off against Swansea FC, the relegation battling Welsh club. Arsenal had a convincing 4-0 thrashing of a struggling feeder team. Alexis Sanchez scored the fourth and added to his total of 15 Premier League goals this season. However, it was the antics of Alexis when he was substituted in the 79th minute which caught the attention of everybody worldwide.
Alexis seemed very disgruntled with being substituted, but who can blame him? Arsenal were having a field day against Swansea, and Alexis is trying to become the first Arsenal player to win the golden boot since Robin Van Persie did during the 2011/2012 campaign.
Alexis is currently tied with Diego Costa on 15 goals this season. The Chilean Arsenal attacker is ahead of the Brazilian/Spaniard on assists with 7 while Costa has only 5. Alexis wants to play every minute of every game. He hates being rested or substituted. Playing all 90 minutes of every game is just in his DNA. It should not be analyzed so thoroughly that he does not want to be substituted.
Arsenal fans, instead of criticizing Alexis for being immature, should be thankful that we have a player with such a high motor who never wants to be taken out. At two other notable clubs in the EPL there have been disgruntled players who do not want to even suit up for their club. The two situations involve Chelsea striker Diego Costa, and West Ham winger Dimitri Payet.

There is speculation swirling around the Chelsea camp that Diego Costa was offered a lucrative deal to Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian for a reported 30 million Euros a year, according to Metro. Costa did not travel with the team to their away game at the relegation battling champions, Leicester, two weekends ago.
After the game, Conte came out and said “On Tuesday, Diego stopped training with a pain in his back and then in the week he didn’t train with us.” This left the fans with a lot of unknown. They were unsure whether the China rumors were true or if he actually is injured and that is the reason for his absence. Chelsea ended up playing very well without Costa, and winning comfortably 3-0, so it will be difficult for Chelsea to decide what to do with the big striker.
Similarly to the issue Chelsea is having with Costa, West Ham has been having issues with keeping their big star, Dimitri Payet, at the club. Payet asked for a transfer and his coach, Slaven Bilic, sparked the flame by coming out and saying, “Dimitri Payet does not want to play for West Ham.” Payet was even given a 1 million Euros loyalty bonus last September, according to the Telegraph. Ouch.
Alexis Sanchez has arguably been the best player in the EPL this season with 15 goals and 7 assists in 22 games. He also plays with an unmeasurable amount of passion for his teammates and the club. Yes, Alexis has not signed a contract extension yet, but I believe once Wenger signs a contract extension that the Chilean will follow. Alexis and Wenger have a very good relationship, so do not make a big deal of Alexis being upset at being taken off. The only problem with Alexis is the problem he causes for opposing defenses.
